Which hotel brands dominate the global market? The top 25 hotel chains impress with innovative concepts, strong brand strategies, and outstanding service. Discover the key players shaping the industry—and what sets successful hotel brands apart.

The World's Best 2020

The U.S. magazine "Travel and Leisure" presents the "World's Best Awards" every year.
To determine the "Best in the World," readers vote for the world's best airlines, cities, airports, cruise ships, islands and safari operators, among other categories. In the category of hotel brands, the top 25 have now been announced.

First place in 2020 goes to The Leela Palaces, Hotels and Resorts. The Indian luxury brand currently manages eight exclusive 5-star properties, of which The Leela Palace Udaipur leads all rated hotels in India.

“Capella Hotels and Resorts" came in second. The hotel group with eleven locations from Düsseldorf to the Maldives and Sydney was founded by German star hotelier Horst Schulze and stands for the combination of tradition, experience, individuality and the joy of the unexpected.

The bronze medal goes to Oberoi Hotels & Resorts, headquartered in Delhi, India. Founded in 1934, the group operates 31 hotels in Egypt, Indonesia, Mauritius, Morocco, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. The third-largest brand also owns two cruise ships.

Luxury and Sustainability

After the British group "Red Carnation Hotel Collection", "One&Only Resorts" and "Aman Hotels", last year's winner "Six Senses Hotels, Resorts, Spas" is in seventh place. ADDITIVE presents the innovative concept, which focuses on the compatibility of luxury and sustainability.

Every year, hundreds of thousands of readers take part in the voting. They evaluate the hotels according to various criteria such as destination, rooms and facilities, cuisine, service and overall value. The full list of the “World’s Best Awards” is available here.
