Guldsmeden Hotels | Europe & Bali
Guldsmeden Hotels focus on sustainability and innovative concepts to delight their guests with a unique experience. In this article, you will learn how the hotel group is setting new standards for sustainable tourism in Europe and Bali.
The concept of Guldsmeden Hotels
Guldsmeden Hotels is a family-owned chain of environmentally friendly boutique hotels based in Copenhagen, Denmark. Besides the 5 properties here, Guldsmeden Hotels has five properties throughout Europe (Denmark, Iceland, Norway, Germany, France) and one outside Europe, on Bali. The first hotel in the chain was founded in 1999 by Sandra and Mar Weinert in Århus on Guldsmedgade (gade = Danish for street, hence the name), and the founders continue to be the managing directors.
Coziness and comfort, the typical Danish hygge atmosphere, can be felt throughout Guldsmeden Hotels. The rooms, which are generally kept dark, are often made homey and cozy by candlelight. This unique style is also reflected in the playful design of the website.

The philosophy of Guldsmeden Hotels
Beyond design, sustainability, and ecology are at the heart of the hotels' communication. These values are not just empty words. All the hotels are Green Globe certified (one of the most prestigious awards in the hospitality industry), Gold Ø certified (the official Danish label for 90-100% organic products) and members of the sustainable booking platform EcoHotels.com. The concepts of organic, sustainable and fair trade permeate every aspect of the hotels' operations, from the food and menus, to their own skincare line, to the materials used in renovations and furnishings. The hotels show that eco-friendly design does not mean Spartan: the interiors are colorful, stylish and very hip.
