Under the Heimathafen Hotels brand, entrepreneur Jens Sroka presents his properties on the North and Baltic Seas, such as the “Beach-Motel” and the “Bretterbude,” using playful wordings, but above all with distinct profiles and unique concepts.

How Jens Sroka Inspires with Wordplay and Individuality

The terms "Motel", "Bretterbude" and "Holzklasse" are not associated with high standards or innovative concepts. But this is exactly what hotelier Jens Sroka is playing with. Under the umbrella brand Heimathafen Hotels, the entrepreneur presents his properties on the North and Baltic Seas, such as the "Beach Motel" and the "Bretterbude," with play on words, but above all with clear profiles and individual concepts.

Stiffness was yesterday, today joie de vivre is the order of the day. The idea of the boarding house is cheeky, young, casual."</div><div class="article_quote_name u-text-style-main">This is how Sroka himself describes his hotel Bretterbude Heiligenhafen, which opened in 2016.</div></div></div>

A paradise for board sports enthusiasts and young families

The hotel's lifestyle is aimed at guests with an affinity for water or board sports, such as surfers, kiters, skaters, as well as young families. The interior design is industrial, with surf and skate stickers everywhere, the reception is in a garage with an old photo booth for souvenir photos, a small ramp next door invites you to skate, and the staircase is artistically sprayed. The rooms (called "Butzen", meaning "shed" or "wall bed") are small and affordable (from 12 to 38 m² starting at 39 euros). For guests who prefer to stay in their own VW camper, but want to use the hotel facilities, there are eleven parking spaces with electricity. Extras such as breakfast or sauna can be booked separately. The restaurant "beach shed" as well as three different bars/pubs offer gastronomical possibilities not only for hotel guests. In the small wellness area with two saunas, guests can relax in the quiet zone with hammocks and deck chairs on a sandy floor.

Creative Hotel Concept with Award

In 2017, the themed hotel, located directly on the beach promenade, was awarded the coveted "Hotel Property of the Year" prize by hotelforum, beating out equally strong establishments from the Motel One and Roomers chains. The Bretterbude impressed the jury with its innovative concept, exceptional architecture and interior design, clear target group appeal, as well as its profitability and the importance of the project for the Heiligenhafen location. For more details and information, please visit the Hotel Bretterbude Heiligenhafen website or the Heimathafen Hotels website.
