PageRank

The PageRank is an algorithm developed by Google, which evaluates the quality of an Internet page on the basis of its link structure and is used in the Google search engine.

The quality results from the backlinks, i.e. those links that refer to another website. Several factors play a role in the resulting PageRank: on the one hand, the number of incoming links, and on the other hand, the relevance of the website from which the link was made. A website can have a PageRank between 0 and 10, with 0 being the worst and 10 the best.

Due to link trading and other methods of manipulating the algorithm in favor of a better ranking, PageRank has become much less important in recent years. Although the corresponding tools for viewing the PageRank have been abolished, it is likely that Google will continue to use the algorithm in the background. Today's current tools for evaluating websites include Sistrix, Alexa and Searchmetrics.

Advantages of PageRank in hotel marketing

  • Increased online visibility
  • Attraction of potential guests
  • Competitive advantage
  • Organic traffic

In addition, PageRank enables an assessment of the website quality, whereby a higher PageRank can have a positive effect on the positioning in search engine results.

Frequently asked questions about PageRank in hotel marketing:

What is a PageRank for an internet page?

A PageRank is a Google algorithm that evaluates the quality of an internet page based on its link structure and influences how well the page ranks in search results.

How do I know my PageRank?

The original PageRank is no longer publicly displayed by Google. In the past, it could be checked using browser extensions or online tools. Today, other SEO metrics and tools are available to assess website quality.

How can I increase my PageRank for a specific keyword?

To increase PageRank for a specific keyword, it is important to get high-quality backlinks from relevant and authoritative websites targeting the target keyword. In addition, optimizing your own content for the keyword and providing a good user experience on the website is crucial.

What role does PageRank play today?

The original PageRank has lost importance as Google uses algorithmic changes and a variety of other factors for ranking. Nowadays, metrics such as Domain Authority, Page Authority and other SEO metrics, as well as the quality of the content and the user experience on the website are more important.
