Hotel Monville I Montréal, Canada
Hotel Monville in Montreal is setting new standards in hospitality: cutting-edge technology, innovative design concepts, and a strong commitment to sustainability shape the guest experience.
A hotel design influenced by ecclesiastical architecture and city living
The facade of the 20-storey building is made of concrete elements that cover the large windows in black and white. Inside, the glass lobby, with a ceiling height of an impressive 9.50 meters, incorporates many elements of city life. This creates an interesting contradiction between the idiosyncratic architecture and the integration of urban components based on typical features of the immediate surroundings.
Reflecting the many churches that characterize Montréal's cityscape, ACDF Architecture created a sublime atmosphere in the spacious lobby with black-and-white columns that evoke the imposing naves of churches. Wrought-iron rods, grouped floor-to-ceiling, serve as room dividers and are inspired by the design of the city's typical stair railings. Local artist Valérie Jodoin Keaton decorated one wall of the lobby with large-scale black-and-white photographs of city life.

Modern Technology Meets Urban Design
It's not just the design that makes Hotel Monville, whose name means "my city" in French, unique. A dedicated house robot serves guests when they order room service. Other features include Canada's first self-check-in, an electric car charging station, and meeting and event space.
Of interest here is the B.y.o.T. (literally, bring your own technologies) concept, where guests are given all access but use their own devices. Culinary-wise, the Monville has a stylish restaurant that serves "fast slow food". This refers to simple dishes prepared with love. A highlight is the rooftop bar of the 269-room hotel. With a 360° panoramic view of Montréal, guests are welcomed from morning to night.
A synergy of modern technology and bold design, the Hotel Monville is striking, but not out of place in the city. On the contrary, its distinctive features are skillfully celebrated and brought to life for guests and locals alike.
