The cōmodo in Bad Gastein combines retro design with modern comfort, creating a unique hotel experience.

the cōmodo: An Exception in Design and Comfort

High above the Austrian Alps, in the picturesque landscape of Bad Gastein, stands a jewel of the modern hotel industry - the cōmodo. Recently awarded the prestigious "Hotel Design Award 2023", this impressive design hotel is a harmonious blend of innovative design, traditional elements and an inviting atmosphere.

Renaissance of a Historic Landmark

The cōmodo represents the extraordinary rebirth of the historic Habsburg Court, built in 1881. The building was demolished in 1962, rebuilt and used as a clinic from 1985 to 2017. After three years of vacancy, Berlin architect Barbara Elwardt purchased the building and transformed it into a modern and stylish hotel. While maintaining the original structure, she succeeded in creating a new interpretation that continues the history of the building and the location.

Unique blend of past and present

The design of the cōmodo blends alpine design with 1960s influences, contemporary mid-century style elements, and Viennese coffeehouse atmosphere. This unique blend creates an atmosphere of comfort and coziness, which is reflected in the hotel's name - cōmodo literally means cozy and comfortable.

Luxurious facilities and welcoming atmosphere

The hotel's lobby has the feel of a living room, inviting guests to relax at the bar or gather around the various seating areas. The hotel also offers a conference room that doubles as a co-working space and curated library, as well as a terrace with mountain views. In the spa area, guests can choose from an artistically designed indoor pool, a comfortable sauna with terrace, treatment rooms, and a yoga and fitness room.

A success story in the hospitality industry

Winning the Hotel Design Award 2023 at the 196+ Forum in Milan, the cōmodo has cemented its position as a design highlight in the hotel industry. After only 12 months of construction, the 70-room, 4-star superior resort is a proud symbol of the renaissance of the historic Habsburg Court and an oasis of relaxation and comfort for all guests.
