Mondrian Doha captivates with extravagant design and innovative concepts. Discover how exceptional architecture and creative experiences shape the hospitality industry – and learn which insights hoteliers can apply to their own concepts.

Luxury and Culture

Known for his detailed neo-baroque interior design, for the Mondrian Doha the innovative Dutch designer took inspiration from Arabic culture with its traditional geometric lines and ornate calligraphy as well as the old souks. Refined mosaics, colourful stained-glass windows, oversized golden bells and crystal chandeliers are juxtaposed with whites (gigantic trees of life) and blacks (an elaborate spiral staircase leading from the lobby to the first floor). With its 270 rooms and suites spread over 24 floors the hotel has a retro feel, blending age-old Arabic culture into a contemporary ambience.

With its 2000 m2 ballroom, the Palace of Superlatives serves as an events venue and connects directly via a 24-carat gold elevator to the largest and most exclusive suite in the hotel. The Mondrian houses no less than four restaurants, one of which is run by Michelin star chef, Wolfgang Puck. The upmarket Japanese restaurant is run by Masahura "Iron Chef" Morimoto. There are also various bars, a cigar lounge, a nightclub and a branch of the famous New York Magnolia Bakery, all in a relaxing upmarket setting. The luxury spa, with its Turkish hammam, is coloured in golden hues.
Qatar's emblem, the falcon, inspired the hotel exterior and is a repeated motif throughout the establishment. The bird of prey is represented in images, sculptures, handles and other decor.
